About

Margaret Kramarz – Oracle DBA

My first encounter with Oracle databases goes back to 1997 when Oracle just bought DEC Rdb and branded it Oracle Rdb. I have worked with Oracle Rdb for a few years (still version 6) on the OpenVMS, before moving to Oracle 8i on Unix – Tru64 to start with. I moved my databases from Tru64 to AIX to OpenVMS and to Windows , changed character sets, exported, imported, built countless standbys using Rman and Dataguard and generally had a lot of fun doing all that. I am really glad I persisted with OEM since version 9i – it is gettting better by the version, 10gR2 is actually working quite well.
I recently managed to set up RAC on the OpenVMS Itanium and play around with the server and client side failovers.

I am going to focus this blog on my main areas of interest , which are Dataguard, Rman, OID, OEM Grid Control and RAC.
